Facilitators: JT Torres (Washington & Lee) and Kitty Maynard (Richmond)
How can campuses make the most of teaching observations to support faculty growth and teaching effectiveness? This session brings together JT Torres from Washington and Lee University and Kitty Maynard from the University of Richmond to showcase two innovative models: W&L’s Framework for Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness (FATE), developed with support from the AVDF Faculty Evaluation Toolkit grant, and Richmond’s Teaching Squares program. JT and Kitty will share an overview of the programs as well as lessons learned from these approaches, then facilitate an open discussion on how campuses might adapt or refine observation models to strengthen teaching and learning.
