ACS Workshop: Universal Design for Learning | Associated Colleges of the South

Through the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) workshop, ACS faculty will gain a brief overview of the Learning Effectiveness Program at the University of Denver. Faculty will explore the historical foundations and social justice roots of UDL, examine data that connects UDL principles to their roles, and gain a practical understanding of the three core UDL principles. Through hands-on activities, reflection, and real-world scenarios, participants will experience UDL in action. By the end of the session, faculty will be better equipped to develop classroom strategies that support the success of all learners.

Meg Davis (she/her) is the Associate Director of the Learning Effectiveness Program at the University of Denver (DU). She brings over a decade of experience in K-12 education, nonprofit leadership, and community education, with expertise in social-emotional learning, neurodiverse student support, program development, and the arts. Prior to joining DU in 2022, Meg held various leadership roles in educational and nonprofit settings, focusing on student success and inclusive learning environments. She holds a master’s degree in Nonprofit Leadership from DU and is dedicated to advancing strategies that foster student growth and self-advocacy.

DeNair Clark (she/her) is the Assistant Director of the Learning Effectiveness Program at DU. She brings experience in K-12 and higher education, with expertise in student development, executive functioning, social-emotional learning, and supporting students with learning differences. Prior to joining DU, DeNair began her career in K-12 education, where she developed a passion for creating learning environments that support students academically, socially, and emotionally. She holds a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Higher Education. Her research interests include social-emotional learning and career counseling for college students with learning differences.

The Learning Effectiveness Program (LEP) is a fee-for-service academic support program for University of Denver students with learning disabilities, learning differences, or neurodivergence. Our mission is to support learning and neurodiversity by providing students opportunities and resources for personal growth, academic skill building, and connection. Our services include weekly academic counseling, one-on-one and drop-in tutoring, executive function coaching, social skills support and events, and transition support. The LEP currently serves 425 undergraduate and graduate students.
