ACS Workshop: The Meaningful Work Initiative – Leading a Liberal Arts Response to Careers in an AI-Shaped World

August 5, 2026 – 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm (Virtual Workshop)

Workshop Facilitators: Rashna Richards (Rhodes College) and Genelle Gertz (Washington and Lee University)

This workshop invites faculty and academic leaders to explore how career development can be more intentionally integrated into the curriculum in ways that are mission aligned, faculty led, and responsive to the disruptions of artificial intelligence. Through structured discussion and applied design work, participants will examine how AI is reshaping disciplinary knowledge and expectations of work, identify institutional barriers to integration, and begin developing ethical, curriculum-based approaches to career readiness. Together, participants will leave with concrete strategies and shared models for preparing students not only for employment, but for meaningful work grounded in the purposes of a liberal arts education.

We look forward to your participation in these community-driven conversations and learning opportunities. Contact workshops@acsouth.edu with questions.
