Centre College, Danville, KY
The online nomination form will be available for faculty members at Centre College, Hendrix College, Birmingham-Southern College, Rhodes College, and Sewanee beginning April 18, 2022 . The online nomination form will be available for all other ACS institutions on May 4, 2022. Nomination opportunity closes May 20, 2022, unless spaces remain.
Join us as we focus on the practical application of how best to practice inclusive pedagogies, including:
- including how to set the conditions for inclusivity
- how to facilitate difficult conversations
- how to repair breaches in trust
- how to engage in meaningful dialogue with students
- how to design inclusive assignments
- how to otherwise empower students and others.
Participants will come away from the institute with a toolkit for building inclusive learning environments. At the Institute, participants will be able to gain confidence in the use of these tools, as they will apply, practice, and reflect on their use.
Following a nomination from the academic dean/provost or their designate, nominees will be asked to complete a registration form. Numbers are capped at 60, with the host institution inviting up to 20. Costs for non-host institution participants include $150 plus travel to and from Centre College. The Institute begins the afternoon of July 31 and continues to mid-afternoon on August 2.
This Institute was originally held in 2018 at the University of Richmond, hosting faculty from Furman University, Washington and Lee University, Rollins College, Davidson College and the University of Richmond. It will be held again in the summer of 2023 focused on Millsaps College, Spelman College, Southwestern University, Centenary College, Morehouse College, and Trinity University; location to be announced. Funding for 2022 is provided by the ACS Mellon Grant and generous hosting by Centre College.
